University Hospital Centre

Conception and execution of a University Hospital Center for Medecine, Surgery and Obstetrics.

This High Environmental Quality, new generation hospital results from a forward-looking process. The whole complex offers a symbiosis between technical performance and Guadeloupian culture. Fitted for the island climate and way of life, it is designed as a hospital for «extreme» situations, whether seismic, cyclonic, or sanitary.

This project guarantees a perfect medical practicality, while offering a true hospital center thanks to a “Caribbean street”. The new University Hospital is organized horizontally into different sections. Simple, clear and open, it offers an optimal flexibility and adaptability in terms of expansion. As a real nerve center, the technical section regroups the entire medico-technical high-tech functions. It is protected from seismic activities thanks to a system of insulation.

The new University Hospital will pave the way to a modern medicine that is constantly evolving, equaling that of a public service integrating the particularities and constraints of the Guadeloupian archipelago. It will offer a pleasant and functional work setting to the staff, a great welcoming service where patients and visitors will be well taken care of. The university hospital “Pointe-à-Pitre/Abymes” will become the reference in the French West Indies-Guiana.
