Chongqing Science & Technology Museum

Science and Technology Museum featuring a permanent exhibition space, a planetarium, an aquarium, a space rocket, a geodesic dome, a children’s recreation centre, several temporary exhibition rooms, a conference centre and restaurant facilities.

Located on the northeastern side of Yuzhong peninsula, bordered by the Yangze and Jialing rivers, the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum is one of the city’s ten major projects. Set at the very heart of Chongqing, on the mountainside where the historic city used to lie, this visible and legible project enhances the surrounding areas and accompanies the city’s new urban development.

The Chongqing Science and Technology Museum is an urban site design that echoes the great landscapes shaped by mountains and rivers. A garden-stairway starting at the riverside is located in the middle, between the two parts of the building. This garden stairway leads to the site’s highest point where the view on Yangze and Jialing rivers is the most beautiful. Fully inserted in a remarkable site filled with ancient memories, the building embodies continuity and creativity, mirroring the qualities of inventors of new technologies and scientific researchers.

The Chongqing Science and Technology Museum expresses the future urban vision and is one of the symbols of the renewal Chongqing municipality.
