Housing and offices in Chantenay district

A mixed housing (8 buildings) and office project

This mixed project in the Nantes Chantenay district maximizes the site’s prime location, due to its southern exposure and its proximity to the Loire River. It offers free detached houses opened on the park and, to a larger extent, on the entire Chantenay district and the Loire river estuary.

The simple forms of the buildings, based on a square model, favor the development of different housing typologies, as well as optimum solar management and distribution for each unit. The unsystematic alignments of the facades and the buildings’ orientations create views on the changing urban landscape. The exterior facades play on transparency through rifts punctuated loggias randomly hidden by sliding wooden shutters and large, colored picture windows.

The intended opening and fragmentation of the architecture is also visible in the structure of the office building. Three stacked volumes are added to the base and feature two transparent glass facades that open up the four levels of the building, and contribute in securing it. The remaining structure is made of opaque cladding. Between these volumes, four vegetated terraces occupy the roof of the logistics building.
