A 2,500 seat Dojo and training facilities, the French Judo Federation headquarters, a Formule 1 hotel, specialist shops and parking

The National Judo Institute is an «awkward object» which seems to have landed near the ring road, between the city of Paris and its suburbs. In this in-between area, the whole city’s disruptive innovations express themselves as true signs of life. Thanks to its tight low copper dome, this autonomous entity reflects a kind of soft geometry, some sort of cap brutally cut by the plot’s boundaries and the Paris ring road. A mere shape and its irregular borders produce a multifaceted surface. This re-energized area wholly reveals the features of this paradoxical area. The 55 metre span arched beams of the dome shelter the Dojo, a multi-sports facility designed for 2,500 people. The linear building next to the dome hosts the headquarters of the French Judo and related sports Federation, a training room, a 350-room hotel, as well as shops.
